Curious thing....

My 16v, had Sachs instaled... And the diameter of the strut was thinner than required for the Koni inserts.

Had to buy 2 extra struts from a breaker.

I measured the diameter from the Sachs units, and they needed more 2 mm in diameter to accomodate the Konis.

With the BOGE struts, they slided rigth in place, without any fuss

All the best

yup tha makes sense, tried to do same thing.
But I had KONIs for normal BOGE/Sachs combo , I dont know how it will be koni for Spica and Boge shock. good luck.

Thanks tvatavuk
The inserts I got are for Spica (narrower type) so they will fit in Boge struts, with a spacer (what I have), was just worried about internals for gas shocks as in, are they completely hollow.

What I was aiming to do was drill out these shocks from Paul (the gas ones) and build them up, off the car ready to go on.
I would hate to drill them out only to find that the insert won’t fit due to there being some obstruction in the strut.
If the gas are internally different, then I can always put the gas ones on the car, whilst I drill out the ones (not gas) currently on the car and build them up.
Hope that makes sense, I have asked this type of question before but no one answered, might be that I’m making no sense.

From what I have seen Boge and Sachs (nowdays same company) were both OK for front KONIs. I had some aftermarket Sachs supertourismo and KONIs fitted in perfectly.
AFAIR only SPICA was problematic, to narrow tube.

Could someone tell me for sure if the shocks from a 16v which say "gas" on them are ok to drill out and fit a koni insert? Do they have the same internals as the others "not gas" to accomodate the insert?
Thanks to paul hide for the shocks btw
