Hi John

Unfortunately, I think you'll find that if the cars are listed as being liable for tax some time ago, you can safely assume they are dead as cars that are SORNed will show as such on the vehicle enquiry.

Sorry for the bad news...

Hi,

Just had a play with this. Does it tell you if a vehicle is actually scrapped- or is that assumed when it can't find anything.

2 old alfas of mine come up and say they were taxed up to 2000 and 2001 but now say 'unlicenced' - does that mean they are dead or just rotting on someones drive on a sorn?? I kinda want to find them now!

Yes all the work was done by me/ dad at home. Used a 10 ton pusher to straighten the chassis/ bodywork, panel beating the worst out then filler and sprayed......I even saved the bumper by hot kniving the split back together. Took about 4 months to do all in.........was quite pleased with the end result and i managed to get a 4 year old 33 with 30k showing on the road for £1900.....result!

How do you guys find out the DVLA stuff then?

I came across some old photos the other day of the 1.5ie I bought back in 1996! I kept the car for 3 years and then sold it to a woman who let it turn into a rust encrusted muddy shed and I guess it has now gone to the scrap heap. Sorry for the picture quality as they are scanned in and I'll warn you of a shocking image........I have hair in one of them!!!
