Holly @#$! I didn’t know that.

No unfortunately it isn’t my wires contacts, because I have done a total rebuild of my electric circuit and also my speedometer in panel has smoked (electric fire) but the car still works fine (including the P4 circuit).

I have just to find a way (my way with new replacement components) and I let you know.

Thank you very much.

Ps. Cause of what you have inform me about the P4 ECU I will let the factory speedometer system untouched (except the panel speedometer) and I simply add an other one circuit where it fits.

Maybe your fail is only a problem of bad electric contact, see this link:

My speedo stopped to work, and with this I fixed it, and now work perfect.

just out of curiosity , do you use a satellite navigation or GPS based speed camera locator, they will give you your Kph and are more accurate to use as a temporary measure?.

No I don't have but it's a good idea.

hey Andrew,
I was asking which console you have so that everyone knows and let you know if they have one spare if you cant find one new. I have seen some new on ebay her in the U.k but they are very expensive.
I actually have your type of console as a spare, given to me by Paul H, I have just spoke to him and he would be ok to arrange cost and shipment if you get stuck, but it is in MPH. I'm not sure if a resistor could be changed to get correct KPH odometer reading. Have you stripped yours, i would be willing to do the same and inform you of correct values if yours are damaged beyond recognition. Good luck.

I agree with you about the price and my concern is also about part’s age. That's why I’m trying to find other way to replace the speedometer, all the other instruments I have found them in good price and they don't change the car character.

In a manner of "speaking" I’m looking something like this:

http://www.vdo.com/products_solutions/special-oem-solutions/instrumentation/vdo-cockpit-international/speedometer/

or this:

http://www.snakebite.com.au/vdoblackelectronicspeedometergauge300kmh-p-194.html

But in both of them I have not find wet if in the package contains also a signal sender.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thank you for your time guys.
Andrew.

If you have access to corel draw, you can edit off the extra numbers.
What type of consol do you have? (Jeager consol), or (Borletti consol), have a look at this post

Thank you too for your help.

I have Borletti console.
I don't need any custom dials; I have my own from my burned (just the electric circuits’ behind has passed out not the surface).

And with this opportunity I just what to find a way to replace the stock speedometer (complete as system) in case that I will not find in the future a nice guy like you who has one and to arrange an give and take.

All that is because I’m not going to sell my beauty (actually I have 2 beauties) and in the future I want to solve a problem like that with something new if possible and not with an electric part that has on its back at least 13 years.

I am sure a few people over here will have the speedo you're after (going up to 240kph). They will be marked in MPH though you could put the KPH speedo printouts over the top. I think BIG AL has this file.

Hope that helps - post more! Very Happy

Thank you mate, I'm waiting with anticipation for my solution...

And with the MPG to KM/h conversion there is no problem since I already have my burned one...

PostPosted: Fri Aug 01, 2008 2:58 pm    Post subject: I need advice (dead Speedometer).

Hello guys

First of all sorry because I’m not an active member in the community (I only reading the threads and the most times without login).

The reason that I’m posting that is I have an electrical problem with my beauty.
My speedometer got electric fire (smoked) and it’s dead. The major problem is that I can’t find a speedometer that ends at 240 km/h like mine and I don’t want to place a speedometer of a 1.4 33.

So what I want is if there is any way to place a generic speedometer (ie autogauge)?
And the most important is if you know any company that produces universal speedometer (autogauge does not).

I have done some research but with no luck because everyone a have found is for replacing stock speedometer or uses stock speedometer sender and is only for new well know cars (of course not for alfa romeo Sad ).

Sorry for my English and thank you for your help.
Andrew.
