i.e. what ECUs used to be called before every car had one and, IMO, a much better term and I'm a bit 'old schoool' anyway.

I thought it was the ambient air temperature sensor for the EMS.

Think it was random alfa electrics, I have been told that it is to do with the speed control for the heater. The same thing is used on other cars including fords, I was shown one by my bodywork guy.
So basically its a variable resistor via the speed control in cab.

Thats so weird and funny you should say that. I only noticed that one wire was loose after i had driven it at night with my full beams on, it might be that it needs to be totally disconnected for it to affect the lights.

I was told it was for the main beams. I disconnected one of the wires and true enough, no main beams. Have no idea why its needed though.

It's the one on the battery side, RHD, it had 3 wires going to it and has an open coil of wire protected by a metal cage Smile

Dunno what coil you're on about but resistances do tend to get warm..

Can someone tell me what it is for, all i know is it gets rather warm.
I noticed the other day that one wire was off, would that cause any damage?
