Thanks Oggie.

Good to know. Will pick these up them for about 60 quid.

Also getting some interior door seals and exterior trims.
I expect these will be the same also.

Just want to double check with you guys.

I've got the opportunity of buying a complete wiper set (motor, linkage, arms etc) from a S3 1993 for a good price.

I want to install this on my S2 1988 car (as mine are crap, half burned out motor etc).

I was told this is possible and that they are smoother and quieter. Just wanted to confirm before I hand over my hard earned money.

Cheers

IIRC it's fairly self-evident. Just unscrew the screws and disconnect the washer pipe. The five nipples under the bonnet are push-fit which need to be prised off with a some amount of care.

Hi guys,

Having a look at the plastic cover I'm not sure how to remove it to access the linkage/motor.

Has anyone got any photos or advice on the best way to remove the plastic cover?

Thanks

Check the condition of the circuit(contacts at switch, relay, fuse and earth; wiring) before writing off the motor.

Yes I think this will have to be done.

I'll check all the linkages/gear etc.

Never done this before and don't know what to expect but I like a challenge.

Hi

Can also be worth stripping the motor and cleaning it up. Had to do this on my Sprint many years ago.

All the best

I've heard that the motor from a Renault 19 will fit a 33 although i have never tried this. If you get stuck i have spare 33 wiper motors i can send you. Very Happy

A lot of the motors for windscreen wipers are very similar, i bet a trip down the scrap yard with your motor in hand should find a good comparison, although going for a newer motor would probably benefit the speed but check the voltage rating and be aware the wiring might not be up to the job.

Hi,

Is it possible to change the wiper motor on my 33 (1988) for a motor from another car?

Looking for a cheap replacement. Possibly from a Gol, fiesta, fiat, corsa etc.

My wipers shorted out a while ago, they work now but they are much slower.

I expect the impedance of the motor increased after they over heated and shorted.
