Too add a few things.

We are going to respray it black. Two doors need replacing. One form the grey shell and one I already had to go on the black one before the crash.

Also engine form the bent one to go in as it is sweet along with spare box. Two new front wings to go on (Thanks Alex) and some general bits to include new shocks all round and a total rust proof ha ha.

Nothing has been wasted from the grey shell as some used on this and will be and Alex and Edward have had some bits. This red one would have also been lost if Nick was not so determined to have a 33 back and me an understanding wife.

The Grey shell has paid for its self in spares sold and used.

Will keep you updated.

Ok then here it goes. Nick is loving being back on the road in a 33.

We found there was too much welding on the Grey 33 Alex sourced for us and so found another Red 33 which had an MOT but would probably failed its next and been scrapped.

So being mad and hoping not to get a divorce I bought this. We had already stripped both the bent black one and the Grey one and so had the pick of bits to fit out.
We then had 2 shells and one car on our drive (lucky neighbours). So I assessed what needed doing and then drove the red one to my Mum's to start on. It needed lots of welding but I went for it. New nearside sill and repairs to the offside. Also repairs to wheel arch and valance and boot floor. I cut repair panels out of the bent and grey shells and welded in. Then we scrapped bent shell and trailered the red back to my house to finish. Nick put in a new interior pulled together from the grey and bent 33's. He also tweaked some electrics from the spares pile. I finished the welding and sprayed in the repairs.

Fitted Zender skirts from grey shell. ( bumpers will follow). Fitted new brake cables and calipers from bent one and zender alloys from this plus one new from Alex.

Took for Mot in June and passed. (Oh yes swapped reg from bent one).

How's Nick getting on with the finished 33 then John? Is he happy with the colour?

Hi John,

Nope didn't get the e-mail - perhaps you could send it again.

Good luck with the welding. I always have mixed results when I do it. Would be interested to hear how you get on. Good luck with yours…. Very Happy

Edward.

John,

Just hoping you got my note about thanking you for sending me those bolts.

I tried to send you an e-mail and a PM over on AO, but can't be certain if they got through. If they didn't for some reason, thanks for sending me the brake mounting bolts, cheers, Edward.

Got some work done over Christmas when Nick was home. Engine out of old shell and stored, twisted shell now totally stripped and off to breakers.

It's surprising how strong old cars really are, I had an old '86 Audi 90 quattro up until someone did 50mph into the back of me at a set of traffic lights, needless to say it got written off with a dent and a busted rear bumper. The Toyota rav 4 came off a whole lot worse though.

Well I'm the Daddy fixing this car. Welding has started and both cars are stripped. Shell to be rebuilt is in Garage for winter Whilst Nick is at Uni. We are going for it big time next summer and hope to complete the welding then. There are three possible deadlines. One when Nick has to travel as part of his degree in a couple of years or so, two for 33 years of the 33 and three when Nick graduates in 5 years.
Oh and by the way I am having to learn welding.Wish me luck.

Ha, all true, 17 year old Nicholas was driving at the time, he hit fresh Tarmac & that made the car slide across onto the grass verge & flipped it. He was fine, now between himself and daddy they are sorting it out.

Can I ask how they managed to roll it so far into the field!
Anyway, I am hoping/guessing that whoever was in it somehow got out.

The rolled one is in pretty much the same state as the rolled donor my father and I used for the Minari back in '95:
