Spent 5 quid on dizzy orings and haven't noticed any further oil seepage!! Not fitted yet!!
Typical!
All dry after the last 200kms.

Hi,

Unless I'm mistaken the manufacturer recommended grade is 80W90.
I'm afraid 75W80 might be too thin ; it is quite uncommon for a drive axle with hypoid gear of this generation to accept 75W80 ...

How would the thin 75w80 motul semi work in my box? Too thin when hot?

The fully synthetic is darn expensive. About 20 quid a litre! !

Motul 75w80 semi. Half the price!

also if it was the plug I imagine the plug hole would fill up with oil first before leaking onto the block.

It must be seeping from the back plate gasket or dizzy o-ring.

Very slight leak but frustrating!

Its on the block around one of the plug holes. Could be from the dizzy shaft, oil filler cap, back plate gasket or plug hole.

I get a slight film of oil around ...

I am sure there is a thread about hydraulic tappets here.

Would be good to add your findings to that.

Shame the tappets aren't easier to change and experiment.
