Looks better then drilling excentric shock top mount holes.

these eccentric bolts only work if you can set them to give the required camber and tighten them up with a NUT on the other end. With the 33 the strut bolts screw directly into the bearing carriers so these type of camber adjusters won't work. I hope I've explained this clearly enough but if you don't know what I mean let me know and I'll try again!
The racers adjust the camber by elongating 3 of the 4 lower mounting holes in the strut which lets the hub carrier pivot on the 4th bolt, giving camber adjustment. This however is not a fit and forget mod as over time there is a bit of movement so its not really recomended for a road car unless you like constantly fiddling with your car rather than driving it!

Perfect explanation Smile thanks Hugh.

I was more thinking of my 155Q4 as you may know they have a terrible understeer problem and yes the bolts on the strut go right through to a nut on other side. so it may be possible on that car Smile
it is really a trackday car so it does mostly get fiddled with at least as much as it is driven....

thats a nice set-up Rees.
but it can only work with narrow id coil-over springs yes?

then it all gets very expensive doesnt it ?

hi,

there is a trick to get neg camber on 16V : these car are fitted with lower height springs than other 33s.
so if you fit shocks from a normal 33 on 16V springs you'll get negative camber.
handling is improved on dry roads but when it gets wet and slippery you better slow down if you want to stay on the road. and tires wear on the inner side, lasting less than 15000 miles.

regards,
zp

Is this is same on any Alfa 33 (non-16v) if you have lowered springs and use normal shocks? Do you then also get negative camber?

hi,

yes if you lower the springs on any 33 you'll get negative camber. you can correct this by widening the upper drill at the lower end of the shock absorber ; when you reach proper adjustment position, drill a third hole through strut and steering knuckle and use a bolt to lock the assembly in position.
disclaimer: dear reader this mod can be dangerous, if you're not up to the task please have someone do it as any error may endanger your life as well as the life of other people.

@markgp4:

I never tried it with normal springs, but it schould work.

@paddy granger:

Thats true.

@ZeNiTh-PbArM:

Very dangarous don´t try this at home Laughing

As before mentiont a 33 has normal terrible understeer and the only way to change taht is give the car more negative camber.

2 options:
Lowering spings. but this will kil your shokabsorbers
or my option by making the upper mounting of the shokabsorber moveble.

there are in my opinion no other ways (I have more than 5 years experians with racing in a 33)

The Cammed bolts are a great idea! why not just drill out the existing threads and put a new nut on? Thereby making it possible to adjust. Cool
