Hi guys, thinking or trying some Golden Lodge plugs , I see a few Alfa specialists stock them. Do any of the motor factor chains in the UK keep them or the Alfa dealers? |

Hi
Alfa dealers should be able to get them, but probably most do not stock them anymore. Any of the decent Alfa specialists should be able to supply some for you.
All the best

Or a common trick is to use the Golden Lodge plugs from a 75 TS in the 16V 33. Right fitting and temperature range and cheaper.
All the best

Ree Cees Spyderman has 8v boxer not 16v (I made same mistake).
GLs there perform great.
But I agree with you that GLs in 16v engine are pain in the a??.
NGK platinum are 1st choice, Denso Iridium 2nd and GL 25 HLD 3rd (better then any other normal spark & worse then any platinum/iridum) _________________ Tino Vatavuk

The replacement interval specified by Alfa for those 33's that used the Golden Lodge plugs is 20K. The NGK platinum’s are rated for 100K, the NGK iridium’s I believe are 125K.
The last time I bought platinum’s for my 16V the cost of the platinum’s was way cheaper than the 5 sets of Golden Lodge plugs I would have needed to match the life of the platinum’s. Not to mention the time taken to replace the plugs 5 times compared to 1. _________________ Scott Sander

The only reason not to use NGK in a 16v is when you race with the 33. The CO is to high for the NGK platinum bougies. Then I use the Champion bougies (spark's). They can manage higher CO rates. |

Pardon my ignorance Rees but what do you mean by CO? Carbon Monoxide? Changeover? I cannot guess. _________________ Alfa 33 1.7 QF I think maybe now I m not so sure |

I think he means Carbon Monoxide, as in the product of fuel which has not undergone complete combustion. |

Got myself some Gold Lodges today .
Was at a classic car show and a guy had some new old stock spark plugs of all sorts of makes on his stand. Saw amongst them some 25HL's.
Cost me £2 for a set of 4 new plugs. At that price if they a good great, if they are rubbish hey thats only £2 |
