I have a series two 1.7 with an electric sunroof in champagne (actually grigio argento), which I don’t really need, but paid good money for last year for my other half to drive. The water pump started to go on it, though, so I found a late series 3 16v for her, which she really likes. I’ve just put the champagne car in for an MOT this week to see whether it was worth selling on, as it now has new belts/pump. It failed on four tiny bits of welding – the underside is actually in very good nick otherwise, with a good-looking tank also. One rear brake is weak and the carbs need tuning. Everything else passed – even the foglight-switch telltale light, which they now fail cars for. The welding has been estimated to cost 250 quid and I don’t know how much the carb tuning would cost. As I was considering a price of 550 quid for it, it is now not looking economical to do the work to sell the car as it’s worth about 300 quid in parts. There may only be about 30 series two 1.7s left in the country! _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

If you do end up breaking it up, do you know if the electric sunroof motor, binnacle, switches etc would slip onto an s3 sunroof.
I know i'd have to run a juicy supply up to it, but i've always fancied electrifying my sunroof since we had the 145 clover with a motor.
