Yes i know it is not a 33 issue but still a very close relative so i will post the guide for anyone wants to do the same.
Since my dashboard was a little mess i found a scrapped Sprint and removed few bits including an almost ne dashboard. So i decided to replace mine.
Since removing is much easier in a scrapped car where you cut whatever is in your way i had to be very methodical in the way i would remove mine.
Here we go..
First i removed the control buttons (fog lights , alarma etc) and radiomp3. It was a good thing that i has installed and ISO adaptor so removing it was quite easy.
Then it was time for the instument panel to be removed.Just 2 screws but first the steering column had to be in the lower position . It need a little more attention not to brake the backpanel of the instrument..
Then we proceed with glove compartment ( did it write it ok?). After we empty it we check for cables that run through like internal antena. The we unscrew 2 bolts from below so that the floor is not supported no more.
After that it was time for the steering wheel. The removal is quite easy and there is no need to remove the steering cone (or base) if it is aftermarket.
So now for more hard work. Dashborad has 4 internel mounting points ,2 on the floor and 2 on the side. In order to have access to those in floor the central panel has to be removed allong with gear stick so we have 4 more screws to remove. Those red & black cables are for the rear speakers in the same route as those in the factory setup.

Then i had another thing to remove. Since i didnt want to lose the setup of the heating instrument i decided to just detach it form the dashboard. it was not hard as only 2 screws were keeping it on a bar. First a couple of screws and i removed the front panel along with the 3 plastic covers.

So now we can begin to release dashborad's mounting points...

Now the dashborad is ok from iside , the only thing left are the 2 bolts from the front under the bonnet. The one is quite easy but the other is a paint in the ass since its behind the wipers motor. For inconvinience we have to remove the ventilation plastic guide. Sorry i only took picture the easy part..

After we remove those 2 bolts with a little pressure we can take the dashbord of the car. Just to be carfull not to brake any control of the steering column . The same procedure in reverse order we follow fo the installation that is 10% more difficult. I 've maneged to install it back myself but i would recomend to have anonther person since the 2 lower mounting bars can be bent quite easily and i dont know if they can be cut.In this picture you can see the front hole for the mounting point.
if you can find the 2 front holes then the mounting is very easy and the reconstuction can begin. Dashboard in place..
Well as in reverse procedure we mount instrument panel , button panel, Mp3radio with ISO adaptor and central panel with gear stick. It went ok just it is little dirty but it s nothing that a cloth and a vase of vaseline can fix.
The only unfinished job is the backlight but it was getting relly dark and i was unable to finish wiring connection (i think i have forgotten a ground connection ). The whole procedure took less that 3 hours but i was alone and i wasnt very dedicated in that. |
