Hi,
does anyone have or has heard about a plastic fuel tank as a replacement for the standard s3 33 steel one? Mine fuel tank is quite rusty, especially on the outside, but also on the inside, and I might want to replace it. A plastic fuel tank would solve the rust problem...
Cheers

You're right - it would be good and wouldn't rust!
Unless someone is already making a plastic tank for the 33, it seems unlikely that someone would venture the £ (Tens of thousands) it would take to make a blowmould tool to make a decent plastic tank.
I think Peugeot were one of the first in Europe to produce a car with a plastic tank (The 405) but it didn't catch on for ages due to loads of legislative problems that have now been sorted by standard European vehicle type approval.
So I guess its time to dig out a few small bits of thin steel plate and the Araldite to sort the leaky tank! |
