Hi.

I have an 1.7 IE '88 with the Bosch Jetronic injection. I thought this system had an ECU too (as motronic), but I cant find it...Does it have an ECU, and if it does, where is it located?! I know the location on the series 3 models, to the right under the dashboard, but I cant find any box on mine!

The number on the AFM is 0 280 000 602. Dont know if this will be any help..!

Best regards Mads Jakobsen

I think so, but I've been told, that there are 2 different kinds og Jetronic systems - a digital and an analog! How can I check what system I have?!

On the 1.7 Jetronic System the ECU Is built into the top of the air flow meter and cannot be seperated from it. There is no such thing as digital and analog. The Jetronic works on a magnetic pulse sitting across an armature that moves back and forward depending on air flow across it this is an analog motion. It then converts this to a digital pulse to the injectors. Your part number you quote is this system as it is exactly the same as the 3 that I have. I also have 2 16vECU(Motronic) which are a seperate box to the air flow meter and a much better system.
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT

Hi,

My Alfa 33 is a series 3 car make (Jetronic LE 3,2) and it looks like the ones you guys described. BUT: I can see that just behind the battery (car is LHD) there is a kind of black box screwed at the chassis at about 15x10 cm that has a connector just like the one fitted in the air flow sensor. It is only written on in the word BOSCH ... Confused
The manual of the injected series2 33 with that particular ECU system does not mention the existance of such electronic devide... Sad

Has anyone an idea what would this be?

Regards,

That black box behind the battery is the Electronic Ignition MOdule. as far as I know. My 33 is also with Jetronic 3.2 system. And YES the ECU on this system is the top of the AFM, held on by 4 screws. Any more question, please ...

Hi,

Thanx for your reply - so, the harness of the ignition module should end to the distributor, am I right?
Also the ignition module includes the so called knock sensor or is it included inside the distributor?

2004 Regards,

Hi

There are 2 version of Jetronic injection, one of which is analog (L Jetronic) and one which is digital (LE Jetronic I think).

As far as I know they do both have an injection control unit. On the wiring diagrams is it N23 and is shown as being in the passenger footwell.

As far as I know there is no knock sensor. If there was it would need to be mounted on the engine.

All the best

Keith

Hi,

I searched in the workshop manual for the IE cars and I am missing page 40-21 which describes the N23 element. Mad
Has anyone got this page?

Hi,

Keith, I 'd like to ask you about this manual in fische.
In the web site of yours you indicate a page for searching among the various subsystems of the s3 33.
However few items can be viewed, correct me if I am wrong.
Is there a way to have the complete manual dowloaded, or should we arrange delivery e.g. on CD or something?
You may e-mail me for further details.

Regards,
Thanassis

Hi

Only some pages are uploaded (from memory, the general pages, the IAW injection pages and the rear hubs). Yes I can put a copy of CD, along with a load of other details. Drop me an email.

All the best

Keith
