Hello all - my first time on this site, though I have browsed a few times. I'm impressed...best site I've seen for Alfa 33 coverage.
I have a red Mark II Alfa 33 1.7 Cloverleaf - my first Alfa - which I bought very cheap about a year ago. This is a great car!
F Reg (1988?) 26K miles, small bit of rust on tailgate (mostly due to the Veloce rear spoiler being fitted), plus a little rust behind the headlamp cluster. Else bodywork is fine.
Goes like the clappers - revs easily well into the redline, and what a lovely noise the flat four makes - really does sing sweetly when pressed. Handling is pretty good too, with lovely progressive early understeer which is repeatable/predictable - at least so far.
I like the driving position, including the close set pedals.
At first I thought the 33 was probably the plainest looking car Alfa ever made...but the look grows on you after a while.
Down sides:
1. Gear selection is sloppy, and this one has a poor (very poor) 2nd gear select...probably shot synchro/blocking ring.
2. Turning circle/steering to park is poor...can easily live with that.
I'll be in touch for some help/guidance on what to do with the gearbox: clearly I'm not the first to have problems in that area!
Happy Motoring. Munro. |

Hi Munro
Indeed the 33 is fun on wheels. Rest assured if there is a question you have about your car, there will be someone here who can easily answer it. _________________ Hugh B
