Hi ppl,
I need to change the hydraulic tappets (1.7IE, so at least there's only 8!)
Does the engine have to come out for this?!
Cheerz,

No, it doesn't. In the worst case, you'll have to take the complete heads off, which can be done with the engine in place. But it is sufficient to take off the camshaft housing. It depends only on the fact if the long headbolts can be removed without moving the heads.
Good luck

Hi there.
I agree with Marcin - You can leave the engine sitting in place though it might get cramped.
When my dad and I changed the first 4 tappets in one side, we thought we had to remove the whole engine. Once we had it out, we realised we didn't have to go that far.
Second time around, for the remaining side, we left it in place.
And be warned, the first time you start it up, its gonna sound even worse than before. Took about 5 min. I think, before it sounded right.
Good luck from me as well! _________________ //Wizz
