|
|
I would like to know if anybody know that a twin spark engine is compatible for an Alfa Romeo 33. My theory has the follow rationale.
The 145 and 146 had in the beginning the boxer engine the same with the 33. After they has used the twin spark engine. So maybe the 145 and 146 (boxer and twin spark version) have the same abutment(the same base) for the engine. Why not the same with the 33?
It will be so exciting to have a twin spark engine on a 33 or also a 1.6 boxer from a 145. The last is 8v engine and I suppose that a turbo on it, it will be a good idea...
Sorry for my bad english... |

Hi,
No, TS engines cannot be fitted in the 33 chassis - Even though TS 145/146 cars look alike the boxer ones the stuff under the front is different.
Transverse engine & gearbox (TS) opposed to boxer engine and gearbox (longtitudinal)...
However possible transplant from a boxer 145/6 to a 33 may be possible to the extent of fitment. Concerning the electrical setup it depends on whether your 33 is a carbed or injected model.
Also, seeing your name is Greek where abouts do you live?

Not sure how much of this is down to translation, but here we go
So maybe the 145 and 146 (boxer and twin spark version) have the same abutment(the same base) for the engine. Why not the same with the 33?
Unsuprisingly the flat 4 and straight 4 do not share the same block...
It will be so exciting to have a twin spark engine on a 33 or also a 1.6 boxer from a 145. The last is 8v engine and I suppose that a turbo on it, it will be a good idea...
You can put a twin spark engine in wholesale. the boxers in the 145/146 are detuned from the final 33 ones so no point. Theres no reason why an 8v would be better for turbocharging. |

Maye this is of some help:
The 145/6 is based on the same floorpan as is the 155/lancia delta/dedra etc.
The boxer 145/6 had a special frame and mounting points made to hold the engine. This because the floorpan is based on inline/v6 engine transversely mounted.
So to fit a twin spark in, you need to create all mountings and hope that the transverse mounting fits (width?). Maybe a peek at the 1.8 diesel variant (yes, it exists) can help. BTW, would be nice to see a 155 bhp 2.0 ts engine in a 33.
Greets,
Rob. |

The space you need to fit the TS engine is larger as the space needed for the Boxer engine in the 33....
The TS engine's are higher than the 33 boxer engine's so they will not fit in a 33..... unless you modify everyting under the hood... _________________ Registro Trentatre: http://www.alfaromeo33.nl
