I have a pair of gas-flowed cylinder heads and matched inlet manifolds that came of a 1600cc rallycar. I was told engine was producing about 100BHP at wheels. Car used to compete around North Wales several years ago. I've decided to go down the 16V route with my new engine so now have some 8V parts for sale.

Fitted to the heads are some Holbay twin lobe rally cams. Not sure on spec but if anyone is interested there is a type No engraved on them I can provide.

Also I have a pair of vernier cam pulleys I bought for these heads & cams but never changed them. They are the type that you dont have to take the pulley off to adjust timing. Just undo three bolts and you are away.

If anyone is interested I am open to sensible offers.

Fairly confident that they would fit your car but not sure they would benefit you greatly. If they were producing about a 100bhp at wheels on a 1600 then it wont be a pro-rata increase. I think that the boxer loses about 35bhp through transmission so all up the engine was producing about 135?bhp. The 1.7 produced about 112 at the flywheel so you are already about 10 - 15bhp up on a 1600. The cams would be tamer as well as it is a bigger engine.
This setup would be more suited to 1600 and smaller I believe Sad
I think your best way forward is either 16V or gas-flow your heads and change cams.
Vernier cam pulleys would be suitable for any 8V engine I think

Try contacting a guy called Dave Young at Mech-repairs in Cheltenham. He is a bit of a wizard on boxers. Twisted Evil
