Being really stupid here but i assume that if i pick up an engine that came out of a P4 i will be able to drop it straight into my 16v no problems whatsoever? There willbe no problems with the gearbox or anything like that will there?
Just thought i would ask. _________________ Charlie

Charlie,
If you use your existing box, there should be no fitting problems. If you use the box out of a P4 then you will have the drive shaft out of the back of the box to contend with.
The P4's used the same motor as the fwd 16V's. The only difference I can see is the different inlet cam between the 30746 and 30747. But that should not be a problem for you. _________________ Scott Sander

You say it has different inlet cams? Was this to cope with the extra weight of the 4x4 system? I dont suppose it will matter one bit. I am not planning dropping the gearbox in as well as i have just had that repaired before the belt went.
Joy of joys
keep on trucking
cheers _________________ Charlie

Charlie,
As far as I can tell it was not a 4WD V's FWD decision. It was more due to the country of destination and thier regulations. Anyway the difference is 3Kw. _________________ Scott Sander
