Cheers Bob, yep am sure we are talking about the same thing. Have just done some research and turns out I don't need it for my application (I'll be running the engine on carbs in my Sud). I just need to make sure I vent the cap and run on hose from it to a bottle/can, it's just there to let the engine breath and not build up too much pressure. Ta, Jaty.
Shouldn't really lose much, the only reason its there is to vent excess pressure and the only reason it goes back to the intake is due to environmental issues.
Guess I'll find out soon enough whether its gonna cause me probs or not!

You might lose oil doing that?

Hi,
Cheers, but I'm not gonna bother with it now, as the filler tube is a tad bent anyway, so am just gonna cut the top of, insert a hole in the filler cap and put a tube in it to a bottle/can.
Thanks though,
Jaty.

Hmmm.... my website appears to be down at the moment! Oh dear!
Sure it will be back up shortly though - if you want to look a bit later.... I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same thing!
Might be worth looking on eBay for someone breaking a 33. (Although I don't think there's anyone at the moment)

Hi Bob,
That piccy and link don't work? I'll try it again later, but thanks.
So there's two types!! Oh ah damn! I have no idea what type should be on mine! The pipe is a bit bent anyway, so does anyone know if it's something I can still buy for AR or does anyone scrapping a 33 with one on?? (is it easy to change the whole pipe??)
Cheers,
Jaty.

Hi Jaty,
You mean item 13???
If so, then yes - you do need it.
It is used to recycle blow-by fumes and oil vapour back into the intake (and to keep the crankcase in a state of vacuum? Someone confirm this?).
This might help :
http://www.alfa-restoration.co.uk/crankcasebreather/breather.html
(Although the one you need may be different, as some models of the 33 have plastic screw on ones instead of metal with the screw inside).
Thanks!
Bob

Post subject: 33 16v Oil filler Q?
Hi,
I've just noticed that the 33 16v engine I have seems to missing an item on the oil filler tube. Looking at pics of complete engines they seem to have some sort of canister on top end of the tube, what is this for?? Do I need it?
Cheers,
Jaty.
