Were 33's fitted with an alarm/immobiliser from new? I notice my P4 has got small round things next to the sun-visors, which I guess are motion sensors for an alarm, and it also has an LED on the steering column. There's no alarm on it now, so could it have had one and it's been removed? I'd like it to have an alarm - what would be the best type to buy to have fitted, and how much can you get them for?
Yes....
When i bought my car, it came with an alarm fitted.
The remote, had the Alfa Romeo logo.
I dont recall the alarm brand, only remember that the key fob/remote had 2 buttons on it, one yellow, the other green.
Unfortunatly, had to replace it, because it didnt worked, and was always, draining the battery.
My car also came with a Blaupunkt K7/tuner, with the Alfa Romeo script on the K7 lid...
(This one is stored safely - been replaced by a Alpine head unit)
All the best

Hi,
As far as I know Factory equipped alarms for the 33 was not an option back in 1991 when the 33 was bought new.
Our car is fitted with a Spyball car alarm and it was installed just a few days after delivery. This alarm had costed around 400€ (base year 1991) and as far as I can understand from the wiring it actually cuts off power supply to the fuel pump relay. When the alarm is armed the doors lock, no power is supplied to the fuel pump relay; in addition there is a battery pack installed inside the alarm casing which backs up operation in case the potential thief manipulates the power supply (I have tested it last around 48 hrs)
That's my 2 cents ...
Regards,

Not sure if they had them from new. BUT.... both my 33s had aftermarket alarms on them - so I'm going to suggest they didn't have them fitted when new.
Also - bear in mind the alarms around that time (the late 80's/early 90's) were mostly crappy sparkrite things or similar - so even if it did have one fitted it wouldn't be of Thatcham standard and therefore no advantage for insurance purposes. Crooks probably (I would guess) wouldn't find them much in the way of a deterrent either.
On my GTV I used a guy off of eBay who fitted a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm for £200 all in, which I understand is a pretty good deal. He did a great job too! (I'll pm you his details if you like and he comes to you in a little van - he's only in Birmingham and will go out to you from there).
As a side note - a lot of insurance companies are now refusing insurance on Alfas without Thatcham approved alarms.
Alternatively - I know a few guys on here (Johnboy) have pip alarms on their 33s.... which ones have we all got?!
Hope that helps!
Bob
