i did, mine was the champagne p4 with the same speedlines as the sportswagon, no badges on mine though because i`m planning a respray quite soon, i did talk to chris in the green 16v but the rain kept putting a dampner on things so i visited the tents and stalls - gutted i missed you

No that was a series 3 with a brand new engine next to me. You should’ve come and parked over with us. There were definitely eleven 33s there. Mine, that white one, a green 16v, a silver 16v, Mick Skinner’s P4, a champagne sportwagon and a series 3 next to it, Jill and Martin Hunt’s white 1.5ie, Bianco’s P4, John Haynes’ red series 2 and your P4. There might have been one or two others perhaps, but I agree that the weather did not lend itself particularly well to socialising. I forgot that you might be there as I was constantly sidetracked and it was a shame that we didn’t meet up. Think you would’ve liked Spring Alfa Day at Middle Wallop, where some of us got ticked off in the Owner’s Club Magazine for head to head sprinting down a runway as we left the event.

it was really bad where i was parked tbh and going right instead of left was a bit of a mistake but when i got up the hill to the emptier fields i had a bit of fun going sidewards, my mate wish he would have come in his scooby,
i was a bit disappointed with nad btw , i thought there should have been some events involving cars, like goodwood for eg

was that you paul in the white one with the nice wheels, i didnt really get to talk to many people probably because of the weather and the fact i didnt stop very long.

Hey Steve... I was christening the nipper I'm afraid. That's the first one I've missed for four years... so that ain't bad.

I must admit, looking at the site, that I was very disappointed not to have brought my P4 as it has jumped some teeth on a belt, but was pleasantly surprised that I got out fine in my white 2WD series 2 with no trouble, unlike the 155s next to us which were really struggling.

Hi,
That looks fantastic! - I'm very jealous.
Had an exhaust valve burn out too. The old valve had a clean triangular lump missing, about 1 fith of the valve gone.
Cheers,
John

Hey Bob, I'll let you know. Must be worth at least a tenner with the new engine!

Hey Lee.... looks like you've done a great job to that lump! Shame about that valve.... bummer.
You said a "trip to Birmingham" - you're in for it now... confusing Brum with Wolves.... someone on here might have something to say about that!
Good to see it in the car though chap.... must have been a lot of work.

Post subject: My engine is finally in......phew!
Well that was alot of work!
It all began 1 year ago with a trip to Birmingham for the lump. First job: compression test
3 cylinders were around the 160 mark
Cylinder 1 ..........................0
So it was off with the heads and all became apparent
So after fitting a new exhaust valve, much time lapping and new gaskets the heads were back on. Also renewed the timing belts, cam cover gaskets and sump gasket (cheers bobbber!) so it wouldn't leak again.....
Pic of the engine ready for transplant (things are easier on the bench)
Empty engine bay.........What the feck have i done!
Lump back in
All ancillaries back on.........Even made up a stainless middle for the old girl....... Purring at last.
Anything else goes wrong and she's off to the scrapper! I couldn't be arsed to go through that again
