Does anyone know if this car has a towing ring at the front??? If so, where the hell is it? Maybe behind the front bumper? I just went to look at it again and the owner couldn't find one. If I buy it I want to tow it home, using a towing bar, which requires a proper towing ring. Towing with a rope is illegal here according to the local Gendarmerie, and a car recovery vehicle costs too much. Incidentally, the owner says the round front lights were part of the 1.7 QV spec. for France. It also has bucket seats similar to the Sprint.
My s2s have the same towing eye as the S1s in the centre of the engine crossmember. They are usually pretty flattened by either speedbumps or from jacking with a floorjack. I had to cut two of mine off as they were too damaged to rectify.
If towing with a rope or strap I would recommend a piece of 100x50 as a spacer under the crossmember to avoid the tow trashing the front lip.
Lee, indeed you are right, blind old bastard that I am. I quite like the look but I imagine the units would be rocking horse shite to say nothing of only LHD. I'm still curious as to whether anyone has looked at the sprint setup as an option.
Regards Eddie

Tow it backwards
That's what the owner's sister suggested. She wasn't too bright either
I think I'll go over and remove the front bumper to see what's behind. It's half off already
, see pics.

Hi
From a series 1 owners handbook it tells you to tow using the towing eye in the middle of the front cross member. Presume the S2 is the same. Might be an issue as I doubt you can get a towing bar on there.
All the best

Eddie, it looks like the indicators are in the front bumper below the headlamps.
As for the towing eye, beats me

I wonder where the indicators are. Has anybody looked at the Sprint setup into a 33? The round units should be a damned sight more efficient than the current square ones.

I think the twin headlights was an option you could specify on a new model.

That headlight setup doesn't look too bad to me. It wouldn't be a graft from a Sprint would it?

Yes. looks like a standard series two 1.7 green cloverleaf with the modified lights that everyone's been talking about somewhere else on this forum. Seats should interchange no problem, though series 3 doorhandles take some faffing around to fit if you change the door cards. Suspension should interchange no problem aswell. Looks nice.

Post subject: Which Model 33 is this?
I am considering buying this to rebuild, using as much as possible from the 33 I'm breaking, so I'd have a decent LHD 33, registered here. My current 33 is really good, but has a broken windscreen and is RHD.
It is described as a 33 quadrifolio. Year is 1989. The rectangular badge on the back is very faded and has "1.7" and what looks like a silver cloverleaf. The trim looks standard.
Is this a standard Series 2? I thought there was only a "1.7 QV" made, although probably different models were produced for the French market.
Ideally I'd like to use just the shell, which has less rust than a UK car of this age would have, plus whatever parts are different from my Series 3. Does anyone know what snags would I face fitting the suspension, seats, etc.?
