It was me who had the rubber go and twist and snap my stainless steel manifold 2 inches after the flange on port no 4 I think, bear in mind if it wasn't needed it wouldn't be there, if like me you are sticking 75% more power from the engine things are bound to be more stressed therefore nessesary to be in good shape. I know after the hassle of repairing the exhaust its not worth neglecting a small cheap rubber bush. |

cool, thats good to know, I think the ser 3 ones are no longer available, the ser 2's are just rubber bushes so should be easier to replace. |

A friend of mine has a 33 track car & he has fitted a 2nd bar. He seems to think it "slightly" helps eliminate engine movement under acceleration & is there as a back up in case the original 1 breaks.
He has had it there for about 2 years now, no probs yet. |

Surely there's not that much force on it, my thinking was that when the engine twists in one direction it would pull on one side and compress the bushes on the other side and vice versa |

Issue seems to be one person managed to get an exhaust issue with it
As to your idea of using a 2nd one on the other side. Not sure this would work. Being a small skinny bar I assume it works by being under tension, and on the other side it would probably be under compression in the same position with the bar likely easily bending.

As an aside, not sure it is necessary. The Minaris used to omit that bar.

I was originally thinking of getting my engineer guy to press out the ser 3 bush and make something to accomodate the locating part for the actual bar.
I was talking to Shrew about this and he thought of using another stabiliser on the other side.
I was thinking 2 ser 2 stabilisers could be used, the forces would be halfed and would not need to be as beefy as a ser 3, could someone post a picture of the way the ser 2 is attached to the block, as I cant remember and I will post a pic of the whole ser 3.
I am wondering if the ser 2 would work on the ser 3.

The side engine mount (stabilizer bar) is sold as a complete unit. The rubber bush is not pressed in but it is formed in the bar during production.

Hello again:) preparing for my head removal I removed my engine stabiliser knowing that it is also fookd and needs replacing, as the middle part comes away from the bush.
Is the bush sold seperatly or is it sold as complete stabiliser? I have never replaced one on a 16v before. |
