According to leaker SpushFNBR, Lionel Messi is coming to Fortnite. The world-famous football player is rumored to make his debut in Fortnite's ever-expanding item shop this week. Messi will reportedly get two distinct skins, one costing 1,800 V-Bucks and another costing 1,500. Both of these skins will include LEGO styles, as well as two backblings. The Messi skins will also include new pickaxes and emotes.

Messi is just the latest in a long string of real-life celebrities, artists, and athletes to arrive in Fortnite. The game has released its own line of athletes in past store updates, though fans have also had the chance to add real people to their locker, such as Shaquille O'Neal and LeBron James. Travis Scott is still perhaps one of Fortnite's most notorious real-world additions, launching as a skin back when the rapper partnered with Epic Games to bring an actual concert to the game. On the fictional side of things, Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 4 brought numerous famous faces from the Marvel universe into the fold, including Doctor Doom, Cyclops, and Colossus.

As stated earlier, Fortnite recently launched Ballistic, a new tactical shooter mode that allows players to explore the game in a first-person setting. The mode will likely feel familiar to those who have logged hours in other popular FPS titles like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Halo, though Epic Games will likely continue to expand this mode with future updates. Fortnite's current Chapter 6 cycle started earlier this December and will wrap up on February 21, 2025, giving players well over two months to enjoy all that has just been added.
