I run mine('94 1.3i.e.) on 95. I also get the occasional hiccup, although less now with a new lamda. I don't think 98 would harm it, as long as it's unleaded.
I used to run my old '84 QO on 98 though.

Hi
Think it is probably intended to use 95 RON fuel. I would doubt using the higher octane fuel would cause a problem, except in emptying your wallet a bit quicker.
All the best

Post subject: 95RON OR 98RON
Hello everyone,
I use 98RON fuel!!!
I am using the correct fuel for my Alfa 33 1.5ie (94' registration) or should I go down to 95RON?
Could some hickups and flat spots between 3k and 4k RPM caused by the fuel?
Also could the 98RON fuel be the blame for hard starting on a cold morning?
I know that the older 1.5 33's used super leaded fuel (alike the 98 unleaded today), but what about the catalytic 1.5ie?
Finally does the fuel setting is set for 98 or 95 on my car and if not how can I check and change it?
Thanks in advance...
