Due the the engine installation of my 1.5 sud engine in my rear engined beach buggy......I have seeen a picture of a cross-over exhaust and have come to the colclusion that this will best fit the available space in my engine bay......If any one has one of the Ansa-crossover critters that they would like to sell on, please e-mail me on stephen_knight@eea.co.uk, or call me on 0787 942 7945 mobile, am based in Essex

thanks

Hi,

I had a full Ansa marmite system, including crossover manifold, on my Sud about 15 years ago.

It was fabulous, but rusted very quickly! The manifold rusted as quick as the back box, and was dead after only about 3 years. I used to regularly ground the manifold during enthusiastic rural driving, which probably didn't help.

The front 2 pipes kinda came under the sump.

On my cat 33 16v it has a standard crossover, but the pipes come around the sump. A 16v crossover manifold wont fit an 8valve.

The Ansa importer was in Ruislip when i got mine, don't know now though.

thanks for the info John, thats all interesting to know......I have got a second hand manifold from a 1.7 8v and am gonna have to cut and shut-it to fit my beach buggy rear engine installation......as it sounds like the 1.5 crossovers are now non existent!.....also if i modify the 1.7 exhaust I wont have the ground clearance issues that you indicated......as my buggy actually runs quite low at the rear!

cheers

Hi Stephen

I've built a mid engined 550 spyder replica using a 1.7 8v. I had a whole system (straight through) made up by Powerflow exhausts (i supplied them with a set of stainless manifold header plates and they did the rest). Using your second hand 8v header pipes, they could make whatever you needed from there back.

(If you decided to have someone make you a whole stainless system, I've got a spare set of laser cut manifold header plates if you need them - pm me if you're interested)

Richard
