First af all, I“m very pleased of sharing this info with you all. I“m from Argentina and recently bought a 94 Alfa 33 Q4 (Permanent). The car is scary fast, but when turn it on always appeares a strange whistling noise coming from the back of the car. Some Alfa Romeo dealers told me it is Ok, but i don“t trust on thrm too much. This noise never disappears... it“s annoying sometimes....Some said it“s de fuel pump...
I“d be very plesed if you can help me with this problem....
Un gran saludo de la Argentina

Hi Ariel, I'm from Argentina too and I have the same car as you do. And guest what? Yes my pump also makes that noise but it doesn't bothers me, maybe is not as loud as yours or maybe I'm used to it.
Surely is the fuel pump, and dont worry if the car runs fine but if you can't stand the noise change it (if you can, it shouldn't be a cheap thing)
BTW: How can I recognize your car in the street? which colour is it? etc
Good luck _________________ Alfa Romeo Trentatrč Q4 '94 |

Hi
As well as the fuel pump it could also be the sound of air going into the tank through the breather system to replace petrol as it is used
All the best

When I bought my car I also thought the fuel pump was busted (whistl sound ) so I went to see how much it would cost me to replace it... 450 ... forget it... it suddenly appeared to be working ok (touch wood)
All the best

Hi
Fuel pump is just a Bosch item. Last time I asked they were about £180 from Alfa and about half that from an Alfa specialist who could source them elsewhere. They are also virtually the same as the ones used on loads of other cars such as Vauxhalls / Opals. Think the GM ones use spade connectors rather than screw on connectors but they are easy to adapt and can be picked up for peanuts in any breakers yard
All the best
