Came across it and might want to acquire it. Does anyone knows of the difference between Ti and Ti cloverleaf? Owner claims it's different with standard red carpet.
Is the body as protected as the 33 S1? Because the early versions were really bad. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

From what I have read the green clover leaf is supposed to have the 105hp engine (as oppose to the 95hp). It is hard to tell though, I have a GCL and it has the 95hp engine. Maybe someone can confirm this.
As for protection, are you refering to rust protection? The late Alfasuds were much better and should be fine if you do the basic check. I have had 2 1983 model Sud's with almost no rust. My 1979 had a rusted firewall even though it was watched after...

Hi,
In the UK the sud ti up to about '83 came as Ti and TiX both with 95bhp engine. Basically the Tix had a glass tilt sunroof. In the uk most of these cars had cream or black paint it seemed, with big sticker graphics along the side bottoms. the alloys were fine multi spkes.
From '83 the ti became the Ti Green cloverleaf, with 105bhp engine. Most of these were red with red carpet and the phone dial alloys.
To check which engine, remove a rocker cover. 95bhp has 2 camlobes per valve, whilst the 105bhp has 1 per valve.

Thanks. Incidentaly, a friend of mine was the owner of this sud ten years ago. He confirmed that it's a Ti cloverleaf. It's a 600 km drive to view the car. I'm quite keen actually but really need to find time for this trip. I was given a really good link on sud info, you guys can chk it out]

I have owned 2 Ti GCL's, red with red carpet and phone dialers *and* 95hp motors (i.e. the twin cam lobes). Were Alfa getting rid of the last low spec motors in Oz?
I have owned 5 'Suds and seen many engines at wreckers. I have never seen the single lobe cams in an Alfasud.... might be quite rare here?

Hi,
I forgot to mention about the rust.
All suds and sprints were apparantly made of pretty poor quality steel, so they all rust especially in the UK.
a big problem with the suds was that they had no plastic inner wheel arches, so rotted like crazy on the a posts and inner wing / flitches.
A better period for suds and sprints in the uk was 1981-82 ish when the cars were dowsed in TUFF KOTE DINOL in the Uk prior to delivery. This proved pretty effective, certainly from the a posts back. By '83-84 Alfa seemed to stop trying again. I had an 85 sprint which had no signs of factory cavity wax at all.

Along the way, some owner junked the steering wheel. My friend was the one that juncked the metric wheels ten years back coz he said no tyres could fit. That explains the 33 wheels.
This car still has the original red fabric seats except for the driver side. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |
