Hi...
There`s not a "bolt on" manifold that you can use...
You have to get hold of 2 intake manifolds from a 16v, and 2 from a 8v carb version....
Have to cut them in half, and weld the bottom part from the 16v to the upper part from the 8v carb intake...
Hope this helps

Do you mean cut the throttle body off the 16V? _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

No... Not the throttle body...
I mean the intakes under the throttle body...
You need to make a hibrid intake if you want to install the carbs on a 16v engine...
Hope it helps

I'm curious. So how is the power delivery? As compared to 16V ie. Anyone knows? I actually fabricated the linkage but has not embarked on the project. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

On my previous series 2 1.5 TI, that i converted to 1.7 16v with carbs, i didn´t notice.
(because i didnt had driven any 16v, with injection at the time)
Now that i own a series 3 16v, i can say that on lower rpm, the carbed version was faster, and more rev happy...
Not much change on top rpm (lack of fuel supply cappacitty by the carburettors ?????)
The series 2 was also lighter, which helped a lot...
The sound was also better... lots of backfires on the overrun...
All the best

I'm working on a 16V carb too. So which fuel pump you're using? I'm using carter. And my intended main jet, 160 with enlarged venturis. Since it's a modification, sure will benefit from you guys' experience. btw, gonna start a thread on final drive. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

NO, NO!!
There's nothing under the throttle bodys.
You have to cut a throttle body, use the down half, and join it to the other piece.

I have seen many pour intake manifols wich we could call homemade
So my buddy Rolf and I desided to manifactor aset of super smooth super flow manifols - bolt on easy - made in one piece alu......
The price for a set of two manifol's are 3300 DK kr or about 472 euro !

More info... our manifol is lower than them you kan make off old throttlebodys + lighter weight..... + much better flow and no blind ends from old injectors

Link to danish website with picture from our CNC machine :
http://vwnettet.dk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16041&highlight=16v
As you can see on the picture is our manifol superlow, the vacum fitting are build into the socket, the optional hole for brake vacum + sensors are ready for fit if you need them, finally the cooling water comes through an stainless steel pipe fitted into the alu manifol with 40 tons off weight !

The low manifol is made like this to fit under any hood.... however the all can be fitted with a spacer to make the hight that you want.... We further can offer an special made set for you to fit a 36mm karb og maybe a 48mm ? If you order a set just tell how higt you want the intake manifol from the engine surface and up to the karburator surface.... your wich is my comand Remember this is NOT an glue together part - THIS is made especially for you in one piece solid alu........ |

Cause off the pour conditions we have here in Demark regards building cars ourself.... the Alfa boxer is the only one wich are OK by the carinspection to get on the street.....
We soon will make an adapter for mounting bigger brakes at a 33.... anybody interested ?
Plastic is fantastic...... my kitcar weights total 620 kg and runs with a 33 1,7 16v engine fittede with two 40mm DellOrto karbs.... the tires are 205/50/15 and rear 345/35/15.... lightweight and good grip
