The brake adapter is for using the 285 mm Alfa 155 with the original calibre.......
We would like to hear if anyone could use these ?
The more we produce, then you get a smaller price.....

Hi
I would be intrested if price is right and meets request for keeping hub with ABS tooths and sensor.
Since there were at least two kind of callipers for 155 that matched 284mm mark, I would be also intrested to know which one you intend to produce.
If I'm not mistaking older were Girling callipers, while newer models had ATE just like on 145 2.0 QV,146 2.0 TI. _________________ Tino Vatavuk

We will make the 284mm brakes fit the orginal calliper's.....
So you only need to change the brake disc + put on this set of adapter........
It will look like the picture above ! _________________ Plastic is fantastic !

If you don't make new brake shoes/calliper mount then there is no way it gonna look like that up there.
1. You have to machine caliper itself to be able to put it close enough to 284, because it curved to fit in 239mm ones.
2. Original brake shoes would eat only about half outer circle of 284 disc braking area.
I'm having 1 set of original calipers from 33 16v, 145 1.4 and 155 V6 older griling type, all that acompanied with 257 and 284/44/22 mm discs.
All that I'm tying to put into bigger brake kit with help of CNC but haven't had luck for last 6 months.
To make matters worse I wanna keep ABS function and ABS sensor and tooh gear mounted on hub only make things worse, less space to play with. _________________ Tino Vatavuk

kitcarclasse - in one of your previous posts you said you also manufacture an engine adaptor plate kit that will allow fitment of the alfa-flat-4 to a VW beetle gearbox.....nobody in the UK makes these anymore.......if so could you please provide me with some more information, ideally what the kit consists of, some pictures and cost?
thanks

The alfa/vw beetle adapter set is a set of the main flange in steel made with af "male" part wich fit the gearbox tight... then theres is the main axel adapter... it's in two parts a she and a he part... the fits on the alfa transaxel and the 200 vw flywhell........ last the set includes at set of bolts needed for the mounting..... As VW owner you need this set + the alfa engine + radiator + radiator pipes + vw 200 flywhell + vw flywhell bolt + vw clutch (recommanded stage 2 clutch from kennedy engeering) but the org will also do.....
the price of the adapter set is 658 euro + shipping
we got right now one set used whitout the bolts for half price !

The adapter set is for the standard vw gearbox (svingaxel+IRS) both works !
The standard vw flywheel comes in to sizes 180mm ø and 200 mm ø the last typical from a 1600 cc...... _________________ Plastic is fantastic ! |

About the brake adapter :
The alfa 33 schould be possible to adapt following with this adapterset :
184mm brakedisc from a Alfa 155 2,0 1995-1998
+
Callipers from Alfa 75 - 1988 - 1991 - this calliper is chosen because of the weight... the callipers shown above schould weight 6 kg more..... this caliper is in alu.......
Weight is the worst thing on a racingmachine....

Thank you for your information.
I had also set of those calipers but chose to give them to a friend of mine.
Few points why I didn't install those:
- Non ABS caliper
- clearance issue, they have 2 cyls and are pretty wide I needed some thick offset discs to fit those into my 15" superleggeras
- repair parts are no longer produced, things like shoe mounting pins (which can be machined) and anti rattle leaf spring
All those reasons shouldnt be a problem for track day or racing car, but I drive my on road most of time.
From my memory, I can measure them again if needed
284 discs are 2,2-2,6kg/piece heavier then original 239 ventilated.
155 girling calipers are 2,2 kg/piece heavier then original 33 16v ATE calipers
75 ATE 2 cyl alu calipers are about +-0,5kg/piece from original 33 16v ATE calipers
Orignal 239 disc and caliper are similar in weight, around 4,4 kg each. _________________ Tino Vatavuk

|
|
HI Guys!
I just bought myself a VW Beetle 1303 that came with a standard 1.6 Engine. Now one of my mates just bought the engine off me as I have a Alfa 146 1.7 16v motor witch I want to fit. Now I heard its been done a few times and I would love it if someone could show me pictures.
Im just wondering what other way can I cool the engine without needing to mount a radiator. As this would be loads of work and where would you mount it.
Any help at all would really be cool.
Also links to buy parts needed.

check this link out, the engines featured are carbed 8v motors, DS tuning in Germany are now your best bet fro adaptor plates, or Kit car-Klasse might be able to help
http://z7.invisionfree.com/Fugitive_Forums/index.php?showtopic=146
I have seen pictures of a 16v installed in a beetle, and the cam-sprockets were sticking out of the rear valance - whereas an 8v engine fits in OK
for the 16v or an injetced 8v, you will need an adaptor kit that allows fitment of the electronic crank sensor......but carbed engines dont need this, hence most people go the carbed route.
to be honest a 1.7 8v with 114hp on carbs will be quite OK for your bug......an 8v engine weighs 105Kg......a 16v engine weighs 125Kg.......bear in mind an aircooled VW engine weighs 86Kg.......make sure you fit a front gear box strap, as it will muller the front mount.
I have a 95hp 1.5 carbed alfa-sud motor in my UVA fugitive, on a beetle gearbox and running gear, and its a cracking motor - soon to be upgraded to a 1.7-8v |

just found the link I was looking for, the top two pictures of a yellow bug, are an injected 1.7 8v engine.........the bottom picture of a blue bug is a 1.7 16v injected engine......the bottom picture clearly shows the surgery you will need to perform on the rear valance in order to get it to fit properly

1.7 8v and alfa-vw adaptor kit currently on e-bay for £450:-
"The engine is a 1987 Alfa 33 engine 117bhp with twin 40 idf carbs. I haven t had then engine running, but was assured it was fine when it was taken out of the car. Also comes with the adaptor plate, input shaft, spacer, brand new clutch, air filters, alternator & an unused Alfas 33 exhaust manifold. The spacer has been shortened for a 1303 gearbox, but wouldn t be a big job to get another one turned"
