Hi,

Sump pan 8-10 Nm
Cam covers, could not find a value for those but 8 - 10 Nm would also be appropriate.

Hi,

head bolts 91 - 101 Nm

Tightning order (A to F)

C - A - E

F - B - D

C and F are the front bolts

Hi Lee,

Are you removing the cam covers with the engine in the car? Let me know how that goes will ya - and whether you can replace the hydraulic tappets with the engine in.

Thanks!

Bob

Lee if its not too late...
the cam covers have a stop on both ends so you cant overtighten them and squeeze the gasket out (at least they do on the 16v)

and be sure you silicone round both sump pan and bottom of block else it will P155 oil out...
good luck

Hi,
Thanks for the replies guys

Mark- I see what you mean about the stops.......very handy

Bob- I wish i could tell you it's easy to get the covers off with the engine in the car........... But the engine is out of the car. I imagine there would be a whole lot of clearance problems going on with it still in because of their proximity to the chassis rails. This engine i have i bought from Steve (Stedee) and i'm checking it over, replacing cambelts etc and cleaning it up generally ready for a weekend of transplantation Very Happy ( maybe that will turn into a week of swearing, grazed knuckles and an end cry of "SHE'S ALIVE")

Cool! Is this change due to your knocking problem?

Bob,
This is all in aid to rid the knock as you say. I was going to take mine out, strip it down and rebuild it but as Steve had one going I thought it would be easier to work on a spare rather than cycle to work for ages!!!
Sorry i didn't pop in for tea But the 33 doesn't sit too well with an engine in the boot....... i went for the direct route home instead. But if i find myself that way again...........

I need more time to be able to refurb first.

I'm thinking probably a month give or take but i'll put a post on and some pics.
