Okay, next problem.
Sometimes when I turn my indicators on, either direction, they'll either not flash at all or flash one or two times then stop.
They stop with the indicators continuously lit and the dashboard light off.
What is causing this?
Dirty contacts in the indicator stalk? (surely that would just stop the indicators turning on at all?)
Bad indicator relay? (which one?)
Faulty flasher circuit? (where is it located? In the hazard light switch?)

I bet the next time the indicators stop flashing is when the WOF (MOT) inspector is checking them. Rolling Eyes

Ben,
If the indicator noise speeds up it usually means that a bulb is blown, I think it has something to do with the circuit resistance.
The bulbs sometimes don't sit properly in the cup and wobble loose and lose connection.

If nothing is ticking, the indicator Relay is hidden in the centre console somewhere in the vicinity of below the ashtray from memory. I think that you can reach it without any dismantling from the drivers side. Look for a largish black relay,
A replacement from Supercheap works just fine.

If you need pics let me know.

Good Luck
Cheers
Ian

flasher unit, the thing that makes the ticking noise when the indicators flash. it is a 4 pin relay type box. you will find it if you fish about behind the centre dash on the right hand side behind the heater controls.

'Tis true!
I found the black flasher unit up behind the dash on the drivers side near the radio. I pulled it out and opened it, and found the relay would sometimes stick when I pushed it closed against its spring.

So I went to Supercheap Auto, using hand signals to indicate, and bought a replacement Aussie 'Tridon' brand flasher (hey at least it's not made in Italy) for only $7. There were no replacement units available with four terminals on the bottom like the Alfa one - three was the best I could do, but this replacement plugged straight in and worked. Very Happy

It's not perfect - the ticking noise is too quiet for example - but it's about time I managed to fix a fault quickly and easily with an off-the-shelf part! Wink
