yeah it took a while but i`ve got her running nice at last, it was idling at 2000 to 2500 revs and lacked top end power (33 16v engine). i thought it was the idle sensor or the air sensor but in the end it turned out to be a mixture of dirty air filter and maladjusted throttle sensor, boy you have to be accurate when adjusting the throttle sensor.
i also changed the fuel filter which bobbber kindly sorted out for me - what a mare that was, the filter i took off had a big bolt in the top and a smaller bolt in the bottom, the one bobbbber gave me was the opposite way round so i had to take the fittings off the petrol pipes and swap them round, then i didnt have the correct washers because the new ones i had were too small for the larger fittings so in the end a 1/2 hour job took me about 3 hours - cars for you - the easy jobs turn out to be the hard jobs

Yep, fuel filter on the 16v is not fun. Also make sure it's not leaking and that it has the plastic cover over it otherwise it can leak petrol onto hot exhaust pipe Shocked .

i`m going to try and get the 4x4 working but i`ve found some things out the switches are both the same, and they are working, so it is either the mesh sensor or the electronic coupling!!! hope its not that
i went to the north east italian meet in brighouse yessterday, well it was more of an alfa meet actually, 2 fiats and about 20 alfas mine being the only 33 rrrrrrrrrrrrrr i hear you say , she was lonely.
i also put those springs on bob and they seem really good, stiffer on the back - thanx

hi bob
the brighouse meet is the last tuesday of the month at the old mill, its on alfaowner in the yorkshire section, there are loads of people who come from liverpool so derby isnt that far, you could kip at mine if you wanted aswell.

oh btw somehow i `ve got the 4wd working, more by luck than anything else , just been for a rally down some gravel roads, excellent!!!!!! call me colin from now on.

a quick question for you , my fan is not cutting in, the fan is working, just checked by wiring it direct to the battery and the switch on the rad is working also, any ideas? and is there another way of wiring it up straight from the switch to the fan

Hi,

Fan - fuse 12??? - two down on rh column

If that is ok, is the switch getting power?

Dont think there is a relay for the fan, else that could be shorted with a little wire as a bypass.

the switch has been getting power and the fuses are all ok, when the switch has been shorted there is no power going to the fan.
i though there might be a relay because the switch returns to the loom but i now presume that is just to go to the fuse box.
so now i have wired the fan using the old earth and the return wire off the switch with a fuse in line so all is well i hope.
