i was trying to adjust my throttle sensor the other day and if anyone has tried to do this they will know that there are 2 7mm bolts and the bottom one is an absolute pig to undo, well anyway i had a small spanner to do this and it fell in the engine somewhere, i looked for ages but couldnt find it, later on i decided to go somewhere and started the engine, i heard a funny noise followed by tap tap tap, oh f***** great, the spanner somehow had wedged in the timing belts and made the belt slip on the left hand belts so off with the bumper, rad, alternator, timing belt covers to see the belts had slipped a tooth, i retimed the belts and all was ok phew but i love how a ten minute job turned into a 6 hour job at least i didnt bend a valve so i should be grateful but i didnt think that at the time i was just constantly thinking "what the f***" _________________ brum brum |

Steve, I know what you mean. The simplest jobs never turn out like that
Damn lucky not to do any damage to your engine though.....especially after the effort you put into it! |

If this had happend to me I would have thrown a few F***s around too, with the ever present thought that while I was attempting to put matters right there was a distinct chance that I had done some terminal damage to a valve or two.
Obviously I am delighted to hear that is is now well although this gives a whole new meaning to "putting a spanner in the works". _________________ 1993 Range Rover 300 Tdi |
