Hi,

After working thru the whole day yesterday thru snow and hail i finally got my gearbox swap completed.

Drove the car today, and thank god, the new box is much better than the old one which had gone all 'million mile taxi' whirry in 3rd and 5th despite only having done about 64k.

Joy soon marred by my father (who i went to visit) calling and telling me the reverse light was on as i roared off.

Is this as simple as the wires being the wrong way round or one having come off??? I used the switch off the old box which was fine before.

I guess i'm gonna have to get under the bloody thing yet again Embarassed

Hi John , not that this is much use but I know that if the live feed comes off the switch and touches your body the car blows a fuse , this happened to me 18 months ago, I hope that is a question of swapping wires but I had a simular problem and had to get a new switch Crying or Very sad

Hi,

I put the matching switch off the 'new' box in and it works fine now. The original one worked fine before, so i guess it's a question of how long the prong is depending on the gearbox????

The reason i didn't use the matching switch originally was 'cos it was an unknown certainty, and it's connectors were a bit wobbly. Managed to really beef up the connectors mounting points with big dollops of plumbers solder/flux.
