Guys,
Any ideas on the safest way to see the fuel rail is pressurized with fuel *without* becoming the human torch from the fantasic four???

Im not saying this is safe- but it's what i'd do.
Undo rail from throttles on one side to be able to pull it and injectors up and out of ports. Then put each injector into a jamjar, and get an assistant to turn the motor over- you could disconnect the coil LT wires so no sparks.
Have done this once myself and didn't start a fire- but will accept no responsibility for infernos.

I am thinking about removing the bolts holding the rail on one side and then pulling both injectors out of the throttle bodies.
Then, put them into a plastic bag each, tie them closed, and fire them up ("fire" being only required in one context! ).
Any comments?

Sounds like a plan. I don't think petrol will burn through plastic. I'd try one first with a small amount of fuel to make sure. |

The injectors can be hard to pull out of the throttle bodies and can sometimes come away from the fuel rail. They can then be bastards to push back in. That's not really helpful is it. Anyway that's why I said make sure fuel is at least getting to the fuel rail as the fuel pipe is secured underneath the double-round-thinga-majiggy-thing just before the fuel rail with just a jubilee clip here. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. For reference : double-round-thinga-majiggy-thing = Fuel pulsation damper and fuel regulator
I think I can get the injectors in with the help of petroleum jelly
testing shortly....
Hope I get nothing - at least then I have diagnosed the problem.

Good luck. It can't be a case of all 4 injectors blocked, so if no fuel and do have spark, then it will be a case of pump or no petrol in the pipes. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

Right then....
Pulled the injectors out one side... put small sandwich bags around them - turned her over... nowt.
Removed an injector from the rail (usually results in getting killed by giant spray of petrol)... nowt.
New bag over hole in fuel rail... NOWT!
That's the blighter then.... probably fuel I guess
Did that lot in less than 10 minutes.
Love diags...
