The other day whilst changing from 2nd to 3rd my gear stick became even more porridge stirring like, i was now stuck in 3rd. I managed to get to where i was heading and after i had finished i had to jack up the car and use my camerphone as a light source and fit my spare circlip i always cary in my car.
I now need to have another spare one, they were only 50p from alfa, but i don't know where to get one from, Alfashop don't stock them.

does anyone know where to get
ser 3 gearbox gear selector circlip kit?
It usually comes with circlip, rubber washer, metal washer.
Also i noticed the casting on the selector fork is loose when i changed mine, does anyone know what size or where to get the sleeve from?
Thanks
Alan.

Not sure about the whole kit, but the rubber cotton reel and the circlip are still available from AR- you may have to have 5 or 10 of them though.

Al, Stick a bolt in the end of the linkage and be rid of this problem for ever (or until the bolt rusts through which would probably out see most of our cars) The metal is softish and takes a tap really well. Did mine ages ago after having had this problem on three (embarrasing) occasions.

The problem is that down south we have no more alfa main dealers, sidlow disappeared, then tates, i have no idea where to go. Alfa shop don't have any, neither do just suds.

Lee
I always thought that the metal was hard as nails but you are the second person to say that today, Bianco said the same thing, they suggested drilling across it and using a split pin, hmmm, i need a donor part so i can still use the car.

Hi

I have tried drilling across one of these and it was a pig. The metal was pretty hard.

All the best

There are two types of gearstick?

I remember trying to drill this myself on my old IE and couldn't believe how hard the steel was.

Al... when you want 33 stuff. Try Mangoletsi... they deliver too.

No worries Al,

I don't have any more though (well only some for me!)

Probably get some more in soon, although if it breaks on the P4 the clip is in concealed in hell.

I don't they come off with the E-clip on.
