Series 1/2 or 3?
Bulb
Series 1/2 check connectors at back of lights or dim/dip relay.
Series 3 wiring, wiring, wiring. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

Have you changed the bulb!, there are 2 filaments in the H4 set up and 1 may have burnt out, failing that as paul said there are 3 connectors on the back and through age they can disintigrate espesially if you have your lights on all the time as they get hot. Also try to wiggle the connector at the bottom of the unit again they often perish and wire's become brittle. _________________ PHAT 33 |

Hi guys thanks for your thoughts.. firstly its a series 2 1989 1.5 ti
Ive checked connectors all appear OK.
Ive replaced the bulb and checked that new bulb is not a dud by using it in the side that works . It does work as per normal so I can rule bulb out.
Have not checked the big red relay as yet, this may be the problem. Any quick way of checking it rather thann taking it to an auto electrician. Is it possible that the lighting stalk with dip high beam etc could be the problem?
If not the relay or the lighting stalk me thinks Im in for a big exploration of the wiring loom from the affected end. Ive just rebuilt the engine and installed it back in the engine bay so will get the relay checked first.
cheers

The dim/dip relay is almost certainly at fault. I've had loads go wrong in the past causing this fault. I always had the luxury of checking it out by replacing with one from another car that I knew worked. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV
