|
|
Hi,
I'm starting this thread regarding common parts of other vehicle manufactures that may fit to our 33s. If any of us knows or has ever used spare parts from other vehicle manufactures it would be nice to be posted here in order to be available to the global Alfa 33 community.
It is a practise from Alfa the last years to continously phase out parts and the years that follow will be much more difficult; not only these discontinoued parts are important to the proper functioning of the car but also owners are frustrated by this tradition.
Last monts I had two cases of no longer available items (NLA) on the 33 where I sourced parts in Mercedes Benz spare parts dealers.
First case was front brakes pins which mount the floating caliper to the fixed side of the caliper; these often wear out and claping noise can be heard when braking. These parts are not available from Alfa but only as a complete caliper assembly... Instead Mercedes Benz dealers offer these pins in package of 4 items intended for the A-Class and C Class vehicles. Part number is A 000 421 16 74 at 13 € per item. Also available are the small boots that go on top of the pin at 16 € per item; I don't have the part number of the boots but these are easily found once you have the part number of the pin.

Second case was the special angled rubber connectors found on vaccum and carbon canister plastic lines. Again these are NLA parts and can be found at Mercedes-Benz dealers. The substitute parts are nearly the same compared to the original Alfa ones with the difference being some mm shorter in length; however the internal diameters of the Mercedes part is the same with the Alfa part. Note here that the diameter is different between the two sides of the angle shaped connector.
Part number is A 111 078 01 81
Photos of the angled rubber connection.
The new ones are on top of the plastic bag and the original Alfa part is on the top of the photo.
Moreover a straight hose connecting the vaccum lines to the distributor pneumatic device is a Mercedes-Benz part under number A 117 997 09 82 and sold per metre.
This rubber line may look to you like a regular one but its secret is that it features longtitudinal lines along the outer surface. This embossed feature ensures that the rubber line does not crack easily due to the high temps that are generated inside the engine bay.
Photo:
The final photo shows the vaccum line and the parts that are replaced with the Mercedes ones. From left to right the first connector hooks on the vaccum line under the throttle body, second is the hose connecting to the distributor pneumatic device and third is the hose connecting to the carbon canister check valve.
All hoses had turned hard to due to aging and no perfect attachment was ensured. This is the cause of air leaks and erratic engine opration; so you can give it a try to replace these. Note that the vaccum line is made from plastic and there is no need to worry about it; the rubber ends of this plastic line are the ones that fail.

Not entirely suited to this thread but didn't Ed Gury and his s2 33 fastroad racer use a vauxhall astra clutch (I believe it needed slight modification to fit) ?. _________________ PHAT 33 |

I'm interested in knowing more about these. Do they have the same specs and hardness?
From any specific model of renault?
Opel here in Uruguay I guess is Chevrolet no?
I have a 33 S2 1.7 8v and may need some new lifters (just in the process of investigating why they are ticking). _________________ S2 33 1988 1.7 QV

Just heard here that the tappets of the Brazilian Gol could be a substitute for the 33 tappets.
Trying to find out the specs of the gol. _________________ S2 33 1988 1.7 QV

Also , fog lights of 33 (S1 at least) are same as those from Pug 106. Also , solid disk brakes i think are the same as those from Citroen CX (but this has to be double verified....) |

Hope my INA 034 109 309 tappets will be ok for my 33 8v.
In a couple of weeks I will fit them and fire it up.
Let me know if I'll encounter issues.
Had OE ones before I bought the car (new OE ones failed after 2 years!!)
Black ones. _________________ S2 33 1988 1.7 QV
