Hi all,
First off, I know nothing about cars, but this belonged to a family member and has been sitting there for 15-odd years. Used to go OK, I think. And reasonable condition I think, but one door lock doesn't work.
Alfa 33 gold cloverleaf
silver, 1490cc
5-door saloon
registered 1983
Dodgy people keep knocking on the door wanting it. They seem very insistent when we say no. Is it worth anything or something? |

First off you have a very rare car, being the 1st series of 33,there were 3 series in all.
Very few remain intact now as Series 1s were prone to a bit of tin worm, like the sud before it.
In the uk there is probably only one or two actually on the road now.
What part of the world are you in?
Unfortunately values dont seem to be getting very high at the moment.
If it is in good condition, needing only reccomissioning for the road then you could be looking at possibly up to a couple of thou (£), if it needs serious restoration then you are back down in the hundreds.
What have you been offered?

Thanks for the reply, Ian.
UK here. Not been offered anything really - I'm not even sure if they've wanted to buy it or 'take it off our hands'. But we've just said 'no, we're keeping it'. We have some obscure reasons for keeping it, not worth going in to.
Seems it's every few weeks someone calls, and occasionally after hearing "no", rather than just saying OK and going, they're argumentative - "why, do you want to keep it". Some of them, definitely don't behave like car buffs, more like distinctly dodgy characters. So for a couple of grand (possibly), it's a bit of a mystery to me. |

Prices for metal have risen quite alot in the last few months, a car weighing in over a ton will fetch £200.00p at the scrap yards at the mo , dare say its worth double that to them.
I think 'those' people who argue at your door are pikie's trying to take advantage, i have seen them just take cars if they look abandoned so if the car is tatty and worth saving perhaps a good clean and polish would help deter them or get it back on the road and join us die hards. _________________ PHAT 33 |

Very nice car you have!
I have a Green Cloverleaf, from that series.
Here in Portugal a know a guy with a gold cloverleaf fully restored, but i just cant afford it right now...
Series 1 are very hard to find nowadays, but even so, they dont worth much, only for the 33 lovers... _________________ Carpe diem!!

I agree with oggie. Where i live we have countless pikey's, sorry people, in vans and pickups driving by many times a day, picking through skips etc etc.
A couple of months ago I put an old bbq on the drive, came in to wash my hands, then opened the front door to go out. As I opened the door some bloke was already there chucking it into his van.

when i used to work for a double glazing company fitting the windows they used to pull up and ask if it was metal windows or ali coming out.
they are scum and if there was ever a case for being sterillized they should have it .
might not be pc but that is my thoughts. |

I had a Gold Clverleaf. It was pretty rotten but the engine was sweet. Sold it for €150... _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984
