Lots of useful info to be had there anyway. http://alfaimola.free.fr/
Sounds like the original engine's OK - just needs fettling.
You may need some cash for a new catalytic converter unless it's registered before the new EEC pollution regs came in(jan 1994 I believe) - in which case you might get away without it. _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984

Ooh, mine is a '94 reg! CAT it is then. Yeah the engine is fine, the poor running is down to the petrol tank outlet I think as mentioned in another thread I have a noisy pump, new one fitted with no change. So tank off when I get back from me hols! |

End of 1992 I think. 1993 onwards needed cats.
All the best

Right so, its not worth me modifying my engine in anyway as it must have a cat and with the Irish system a declared modified car is going to be too much for me to run so I'm going to keep her original.
Engine wise I changed the fuel filter on the bulhead and the differenc was massive. There is still a little hesitancy at low revs but overall, throught the rev range I still feel like she's down on power, even though delivery through the range is now alot smoother.
I wanted to check the pressure on the fuel rail, what should it be?
My lambda is tested and working, I have no vacuum leaks.
I can smell the engine is running way too rich from the exhaust so next on the list is to check the timing and the regulator fffor the return feed back to the tank.
after that I'm thinking gunked injectors, any tips on removal if this is the case?
sorry for the barage of questions but I'm time starved both with time on the computer and time in the garage!
EDIT
OOH sorry this is in the wrong section, could the mods move it maybe? |

If running too rich and Lambda sensor is ok check coolant temperature sensor which goes to calculator. It could be showing cold instead of hot.
Injectors fairly easy to remove. Ultrasonic cleaning does help I think.
Fuel pressure should be 2.5 bar +/- 0.2 bar after regulator. _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984

Coolant temperature is fine, gauge reads as it should, fan cuts in and out etc. I'll rig up a gauge to test the fuel pressure this weekend hopefully.
Re the injectors, do they screw out? I don't see anything I can get a spanner on to.
Thanks a million for the advice mate |

Hi
There is more than one temp sensor! The one for the temp gauge isn't connected to the fuel injection, and the fan just operates off a switch sensor on the radiator.
There is also an intake air temp sensor built into the air flow meter (well, on those with an AFM).
All the best
