I have a 1.7 8v 33 engine that had injection and a dizzy fitted, it is a hydraulic tappet engine.
two of the inlet valves are bent on one bank, if I don't manage to locate replacement valves would I be able to use different heads on the engine?
my choices are:-
hydraulic tappet heads from a 1.6 boxer from a '95 145
hydraulic tappet head from a 1.3 carby 33
mechanical tappet head from a 1.3 carby
I measured the valve diameter from the 1.3 that's in bits to compare with the 1.7 and as expected they are smaller, but not by much. Would this choke a 1.7?
I cant measure the 1.6 as its not in bits and I kind of want to keep it like that as its a good engine, just not set up for carbs yet.
Any help on this one would be great Gents! |

Hi,
The 8V hydraulic tappet heads are the same on the boxer engines
(including the 145/146 8V models).
The valve head diameters are 39.7 - 39.9 mm for the intake and
33.0 - 33.2 mm for the exhaust valves.
The mech lifter heads are equipped with different cam pulley and camshaft.
Maybe worth a try to call the sales helpdesk number at the following site: http://www.enginepartsuk.net/osvat |

Ok, thanks for the reply, that kind of answers my question. Once the valves are the same diameter I should be ok, cam profile differences aside that is.
Thanks lone wolf! |
