|
|
Hi girls and guys
I have a 16v 33 fitted with a NON power assisted steering rack.
I would like to fit the power assisted steering arms, as they have adjusters on the ends to make tracking adjustment more accurate and easier.
Could someone tell me the dimensions of the holes in both a NON power assisted steering rack arm and an assisted one?
Assuming the assisted one is smaller than a NON assisted one I can make up a sleeve.
I just need to know if a sleeve is enough or if they are wider, top hat sleeves will need to be made.
Thanks
Alan. _________________ x2 33 16v

Hi BigAl,
you can have adjusters on the ends not depending
if you have or not power assisted rack,
adjusters are an upgrade done in '92 or '93 on all 33
(and yes probably in 92-93 about 90% of 33 where power
assisted but non all, I just see here one of '93 without it)
I think they can be changed without need to change
or modify the other parts (i.e. same holes)
Am I wrong? |

Fully agree with that, the difference is the length setting of the
steering arms. I don't know how to post a diagram here
as I don't have photobucket (or some similar) account.
(Through AO maybe...? ) |

Hi
My 33 which is a 1991 PAS model was fitted with the fixed length steering bars. A lot of years ago I had found a later production 33 which was fitted with the adjustable steering bars which I removed and installed them on my 33.
It is a bolt on upgrade and it is not dependent on PAS or not.

I've just realized that I already have a google+ account,
so here's the diagram with the arm length settings:

Uhm..
I didn't suspect arms where 8mm different
in length depending on PAS or not..
..it seams that the 2 bolts on steering rack
where steering arms are fastened are more
spaced on PAS rack..nice to know it
I check Eper spares catalog, arms+adjusters+nuts
have different codes depending on PAS or not,
not sure if arms are effectively built with different length
or if they are the same and the 8mm difference is achieved
only with a different regulation of the adjusters and
different thickness of the two nuts on the adjuster sides
>> Arms before adjusters upgrade codes:
60501536 - no PAS - DX and SX ( spare code is for arm )
60538758 - PAS - DX ( spare code is for arm )
60538759 - PAS - SX ( spare code is for arm )
>> Arms after adjuster upgrade codes:
60572860 - no PAS - DX and SX - ( spare code is for arm+adjuster+nuts)
60572858 - PAS - DX and SX ( spare code is for arm+ adjuster+nuts)
>> Arms after upgrade as separate spare are not available
>> Adjuster as separate spare have 1 only code,
the same for Dx-Sx and with PAS or not
>> The nut for the inner side of the adjusters has different codes
depending of PAS or not, and in the figure it seams thicker the one for not PAS.
May be different length is achieved only by different nut and regulation ?? |

All but the boggo 1.3(1991-1993) carb entry level serie 3 had PAS I believe.
As far as I know from 1993 on it was standard on all models. _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984
