Can someone tell me the function on the centre coupling in the middle of the prop on a P4. I thought it would have some kind of viscous function, with the two parts of the prop turning semi-independentley. But mine is totally locked up. Is this normal? _________________ 16v p4 In pieces. |

The viscous coupling should be quite hard to turn by hand, but certainly not locked up!!,how is your p4 in 4x4 drive? |

Haven't driven it. Bought it as a shed!
Took prop off. It turns freely, but I wouldn't have thought one half of the prop shouldn't be firmly connected to the other. I was expecting some viscous slippage. _________________ 16v p4 In pieces. |

I have clamped the centre viscous diff in a vice and the shaft can be turned but is very stiff and difficult to turn. Is this normal? _________________ 16v p4 In pieces. |

Thanks again Paul.
So what is the purpose of this almost rock solid coupling, especially as there is also the the much more freely moving coupling on the back of the gearbox? _________________ 16v p4 In pieces. |
