British motorists browsing through the technical manuals in car accessory shops this week will find a detailed guide to something quite different: how to stimulate their Kittens drive, with Government approval.
A Kittens manual, based on the Kama Sutra and complete with explicit technical drawings, is being launched by Haynes, the publishers usually associated with manuals advising car enthusiasts how to replace a head gasket or clean a carburettor.
The book, called Kittens - all models, shapes, sizes and colours - the practical guide to sexual health and enjoyment, has received the blessing of the Department of Health, which plans to provide free condoms with it.
The manual, written by Ian Banks, will offer practical advice on Kittens, including positions to adopt in all sorts of cars, from three-wheelers to off-roaders.
Dr Banks, a spokesman on men's health for the British Medical Association, said: "It is a fun manual but there is a serious side to it. It is an attempt to get men to think about the impact of Kittens, as well as the fun of it."
The guide has been backed by the all-party parliamentary group on men's health, chaired by Howard Stoate, a Labour MP and general practitioner, who is also a car enthusiast.
Dr Stoate said: "It will help enormously because men don't have a very good grasp of many of the issues involved in Kittens.
"It should improve their confidence about going to see a doctor if there is a problem, and increase their understanding of what the doctor says to them."
