hi to all those wounderful engineers out there,
right side front brakepad is binding slightly , have just replaced front pads.
they had to be replaced prematurily because the out side pad had worn down before the others.
i attributed this problem to the car being driven on a wiggly bearing, which i had replaced .
it feels like the pad is still bitting to much and going to wear out = can feel it through the steering , causes vibration and sound.
ive noticed the disk is not as smooth as it should be and am hoping that damage to the disk occured while the bearing was shot. Thereby condeming all subsequent out side pads to an early death.
my question is do i need to simply have the disk ground , or even use the mildly rusty one i have on my spares parts car[it seems smooth under the rust]
some one suggested on a post that the disk surface was harded . might lose that - expose softer metal,
would the other side disk need to be machined the same ammount .
the steering and alignment are good , she's going so well on 200kms
,just want to keep her going .
thanks , hope this isnt confusing |

Hi
Doubt the disk would cause the problem. I would double check that the caliper is sliding correctly first.
All the best

pete your caliper is a single pot sliding caliper , meaning that when the piston has pressure behind it , the other side of the caliper slides, so that there is equal pressure on either side..........you need to make sure all the slide pionts on the caliper are well ......slidey _________________ alfa romeo trofeo series new zealand, video site .
