|
|
Hoping for some advice to find the right extractors/ system for my 1.5 motor. THe 1.5 has raised compression, hotter cams and match porting, meaning larger ports for exhaust size.
The polished exhaust ports are spot on the same diameter as the original header (minus the soot build up).
Apparently this aint good enough.
Any contacts for custom exhaust systems / pre-made/ available in Oz?
or maybe NZ>>>???
Id like the motor to be streetable but also optimised for performance..
Advice anyone?? _________________ Too Many!! 33 QV 1.5 1986 (day driver, Sud 1.5 82 (toy) and Sud Ti Qv 84 (on hold), 1988 1.7 carbie too (wobly). |

If you want to stick to a stock setup then the 1700 has bigger pipes.

Ill get some measurements and check it out.
Dont think 1.7 Manifolds are so common in OZ.
My ports are 32mm...
any guesses at 1.7 Exhaust manifold inner diameter?/?/?/
any advice on tested units with wider extractor custom pipes?
Spiderman emailed me RE: the "ANSA" in Geneal Forum. Inner diameter about 35mm.
If any one can recomend how much difference in port to inner exhaust diameter
I should go... if not maximum. To get good resistane to negative air flow.
Dicko
Started the new motor with the old pipes / polution control and all, this should heat things up on the way to the muffler shop. |

I do know that the ID of the exhaust manifold flanges on the 1.7 are 35mm. Measured mine today as I need to get a set of new flanges for a custom system that Powerflow are making for me.
Hope that helps - anyone know where I can get 4 new flanges for a 1.7?? (ideally stainless) |

The 1700 exhaust starts at the same dia at the ports as the 1500 but steps up in size as soon as it clears the studs. The size increase is significant. There is a chap here in Auckland, NZ who makes up extractors for the racing guys but I have no idea of costs. Can supply you with a ph no if you want.

I made mine with standard extractors. They are seriously tapered at the end but can be cut off to get 2 inch exit. I joined a standard 16v centre pipe which is straight through and another straight through tail pipe. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |
