yes, they will physically fit, but they flow more, which won't be good. Since the 8v injectors have more than enough flow capacity to meet the needs of most tuned 8v engines, you will not gain anything. What you will do is overfuel your engine by putting in the 16v injectors, as they will give more fuel each time they open, so you will lose power.
To use the 16v injectors would require you to reprogram th ECU to compensate, but you still will end up losing because higher flow rate injectors will give a less acurately metered amount of fuel, given that the same quantity is required. This will give rougher running at part throttle.

The colour coding determines how high max BHP the injectors supports. I can't remember exactly but my 8v ie went above 120 bhp, starts detonating at high rpm and excessive heat build up because blue injectors ain't enough. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

The probable reason that your engine started detonating at high RPM when tuned was that you hadn't richened the mixture to compensate. Injectors are put on engines with some 50% flow capacity in hand, so that there is no chance of them becoming restrictive.
Either your injectors were dirty, which happens quite a lot, or more probably the injection was not adjusted to open the injectors for longer at the higher RPM sites.
There are lots and lots of people who would love to know how the injection was reprogrammed if you did have it done!

The injectors are specified by Bosch themselves for the max BPH the different colours can cater. That is why the 16v comes with yellow ones. Well, and tuning the jetronic is no easy task. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

Just to clarify - if you put in the 16v injectors on the tuned car, you may be able to make the mixture correct at high rpm when there is need for more fuel, if you are lucky enough that the engine needs that amount of difference.
The problem is that the engine will then run richer all the way through the rev range, so at low to middle RPM you will have a rough engine. If you think this doesn't matter, just check your rev counter next time you are driving round, and then you'll realise just how little time the engine spends at high revs

Ya true. I guess a standard set up QV that I am currently running is best for road use with little compromise. Just that in the past was seeking high bhp with compromise at low end, it ended up with high power but inadequate fueling at very high rpms. guess not much options left... |
