I have a 1990 33 1.5 Ti . Last of the old shape. My indicators have just stopped going. The dash light comes on, but they dont blink.
When I checked, the bulbs were all fine. There was a week current, but not enough to light bulb up. Any thoughts. Bad earths? Relay or what ?

If there's weak current, it's probably a bad connection somewhere or the earth connection. What happens if you switch on the hazard-lights? My indicator lights dont work all the time either, but after I've switched the hazard-lights on once, they start working again.. Smile

Maze123 is right in terms of what to check. Also, locate the fuses for this circuit, remove, clean them and the terminals in the box. The flash can could also be faulty, but these are hard to check without a relay-load tester. Actually, they are known to be able to last the life of the 33 (whatever that is!).

Check the supply voltage and earth continuity to the flash relay. This is where they are let down (they probably last so long because they never get enough voltage to heat them up enough!). A simple test could be the run a new earth test lead directly to the relay. If the sound of the relay 'brightens' then the cause is poor earthing.

We once had a problem with our RHS indicator. It turned out to be a faulty relay (the device that clicks). The problem lay in the relay casing, it was rubbing against the internals and causing a connection problem. With the casing removed it worked fine, but with it on the problem was intermittent. We simply replaced the relay, and the problem hasn't returned.
