Hi
It's quite a slog trawling through this user manual so I might as well ask here...
On the 8V the tachometer wire connects to the distributor. The 16V's distributor only has the rotor arm, with no connector for tachometer signals. Am I right in assuming that the 16V gets the RPM reading from the crank angle sensor, via the ECU? If so, is there anywhere I could easily attach the tachometer wire from my series 2 gauge?
What I'm probably going to try to do, in the absence of any better idea, is to fit the series 2 distributor and use the bottom half purely for the tachometer reading. I'd much rather stick with the 16V dizzy and run the tachy cable through the ECU though. Fingers crossed, someone will tell me before Saturday (when I've got to sort it by)...

Hi
Dont think the dizzy supplies the trigger for the tacho. Think it comes from the coil instead. Should be easy to wire up to a 16V coil

Yes, just checked properly and you're right. That's a relief.
So what is the 3-pin connector for on the 8V distributor? The wires that connect to it run into the wiring loom near the coil area.

Hi
Those wires come from the sensor in the dizzy to tell the coil when to fire, at which point the coil pack sends a pulse to the dizzy which jumps to the nearest plug lead to the rotor arm at that moment
